Global law firm K&L Gates LLP recently advised independent power producer Clean Power Group on the securing of more than $50 million from a strategic investor for the development of a California solar power project. Led by Palo Alto partner Dirk Michels, the transaction includes financing and credit support for the development of an up to 500 megawatt solar development project in Kern County, Calif.
Michels, who was recognized last month by California’s Daily Journal as one of the “Top 25 Clean Technology Lawyers in California” for his work in project finance, said: “This is one of the largest solar projects in the U.S. and our firm is proud to be part of the team for this groundbreaking renewable energy project.”
Based in San Francisco, Clean Power Group’s mission is to develop, construct, finance, and operate world-class photovoltaic solar energy power facilities across the western United States, and work in partnership with leading energy enterprises to deliver clean renewable energy to American utilities.
ThinkEquity LLC was the exclusive agent to Clean Power Group in the transaction.
