Shearman & Sterling Advises Gambro AB in Sale of CaridianBCT to Terumo Corporation

Shearman & Sterling is representing Gambro AB, jointly controlled by Investor AB (49%) and EQT IV (51%), in its agreement to sell CaridianBCT to the Japanese medical technology company Terumo Corporation for a total enterprise value of US $2.625 billion. The transaction is subject to approval from the relevant competition authorities.

CaridianBCT has been managed as an independent company since 2007 and is today a world-leading global provider of technology, products and services in automated blood collection, therapeutic systems, whole blood processes and pathogen reduction technologies. EQT is the leading private equity group in Northern Europe with more than €13 billion in raised capital and multiple investment strategies. Investor AB is a Nordic-based industrial holding company founded almost one hundred years ago by the Wallenberg family. The company has investment activities in Europe, the United States and Asia. Gambro is a global medical technology company and a leader in developing, manufacturing and supplying products and therapies for kidney and liver dialysis, myeloma kidney therapy, and other extracorporeal therapies for chronic and acute patients.
