The international law firm DLA Piper has advised UK-based Synergy Health Holdings Ltd in relation to the acquisition of all the shares in Gamma-Service Produktbestrahlung GmbH in Dresden.
Synergy Health Holdings Ltd belongs to the LSE-listed Synergy Health plc group, which is a leading provider of specialist outsourced services to health related markets in the UK and Ireland, Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Africa, including hospital decontamination and medical devices sterilisation services as well as other healthcare solutions.
Gamma-Service Produktbestrahlung GmbH operates a radiation facility in Dresden and provides gamma and ebeam sterilisation services to the healthcare and industrial sectors. The shares have been sold by private individuals, being the founding shareholders.
The business of Gamma-Service Produktbestrahlung GmbH will enable Synergy Health to add electron beam processing to the service offering in mainland Europe and through the proximity to Poland and Czech Republic provides Synergy Health with a route to enter other markets in Eastern Europe. The acquisition is in line with Synergy Health’ strategy to extend its leadership of the European sterilisation market and will also assist in its efforts to break into Germany’s decontamination market.
The transaction closed on 8 December 2010.
