Shearman & Sterling is advising the Swiss OC Oerlikon Management AG (Oerlikon) on the takeover of German hartec Anlagenbau GmbH (hartec) by Oerlikon Balzers. The future subsidiary will operate under the name of Oerlikon Balzers hartec GmbH.
Oerlikon Balzers is the leading global producer of PVD coatings technology based in Switzerland. hartec is based in Stetten, Germany, and specializes in environmentally friendly decorative and functional coatings for plastics.
Shearman & Sterling’s client relationship with Oerlikon goes back several years. For example, the law firm advised the company in the sale of its Blu-ray business in 2008.
