Kaye Scholer Has a Different Approach to Deferment

Kaye Scholer is allowing half of its deferred first-year associates to do pro-bono work for a reduction in salary. 20 new lawyers have entered into this agreement and will be paid $60,000 for their efforts. While Kaye Scholer decided to keep its associates close, many firms who have delayed first-years offered the option to work at non-profits for a stipend.
