Greenberg Traurig Represents BNP Paribas in PLN4.6 Billion Acquisition of Bank Gospodarki Żywnościowej S.A.

The international law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP advised BNP Paribas Group in its agreement with Rabobank Group for the acquisition of 98.5% stake held in Bank Gospodarki Żywnościowej S.A. by Rabobank Group. Valued at PLN4.2 billion (EUR1 billion), this marks the largest banking acquisition in Poland for 2013.

The Greenberg Traurig team was led by Warsaw senior partner Lejb Fogelman and London partner Stephen Horvath. Additional team members included Warsaw partners Ireneusz Matusielański, Łukasz Pawlak, Tomasz Kacymirow and Paweł Hincz, as well as associates Adam Cain in London, and Agata Jakubczak, Magdalena Gad and Małgorzata Paśnik in Warsaw.

Greenberg Traurig provided comprehensive legal advice with respect to the acquisition, including negotiation of the agreement and assisting BNP Paribas with structuring and regulatory matters. The transaction will be finalized after obtaining the approval of relevant regulatory authorities.
