McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP Adds Seasoned Criminal Defense and Environmental Partner in Washington, DC

McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP (MLA) announced the addition of Thomas J. Kelly, Jr. as a partner in MLA’s White Collar Criminal Defense practice. Based in the Washington, DC office, Mr. Kelly is a seasoned white collar criminal defense, environmental litigator, and trial lawyer.

For the last 25 years, Mr. Kelly has built upon his experience as a former Assistant United States Attorney, successfully representing corporations and individuals in criminal and administrative matters throughout the United States. Mr. Kelly has a broad criminal defense practice that focuses on environmental law and environmental crimes defense, among other areas.

“We are delighted to have Tom join MLA,” said Tami Lyn Azorsky, chair of MLA’s Litigation Practice. “His 25 years of experience will bring further depth to our White Collar Criminal Defense practice and complement our environmental defense team.”

Mr. Kelly is very active in the community, having served on the Board of Directors of both Bread for the City and Neighborhood Legal Services Program.

Mr. Kelly joins a criminal defense team that has tried to verdict more than 200 criminal jury trials. The team is currently defending FCPA, procurement fraud, health care and securities fraud matters, in addition to environmental crime matters. Members of the team have held prominent positions within the government, including: State Attorney General; United States Attorney for Maryland; Assistant United States Attorneys in California, Maryland, Nevada, and Washington, DC; and DOJ’s Chief of the Fraud Section of the Criminal Division. Recently, MLA added three former senior level SEC enforcement attorneys to the team – Nancy Grunberg, Treazure Johnson and George Kostolampros.
