Josiah M. “Josh” Black has joined LeClairRyan as a shareholder on the firm’s Labor and Employment Practice Area team. He will be resident in the national law firm’s Charlottesville, Va. and Boston, Mass. offices.
An experienced labor and employment attorney and litigator, Black has represented employers at dozens of hearings, trials and arbitrations in state and federal courts and agencies in many different jurisdictions, including California, Florida, Minnesota, Massachusetts, New York, New Hampshire, North Dakota and Texas. He has also successfully argued appeals before the United States Courts of Appeals.
Black also regularly counsels and trains clients on good management practices and compliance with myriad labor and employment issues. He trains managers and human resources professionals on many subjects, including the management of physical and mental disabilities and employee leaves of absence, drug and alcohol testing programs, performance management programs, safe and effective hiring techniques, and conducting workplace investigations.
Additionally, Black counsels and represents defense industry clients concerning security clearance matters and has tried dozens of cases before the United States Department of Defense, Defense Office of Hearings and Appeals.
Black is graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law (J.D.) and Duke University (B.A.). He is admitted to practice in Massachusetts.
