Segal McCambridge Expands National Transportation Practice with Lateral Shareholder Jon Michael Dumont and Five Additional Attorneys

In response to increasing client demand for complex transportation litigation services across the country, Segal McCambridge continues to expand its core practice areas with the addition of lateral shareholder Jon Michael Dumont to the firm’s Philadelphia office. Mr. Dumont brings along a team of three experienced of counsel attorneys, as well as two talented associate attorneys.

Mr. Dumont, a veteran trial lawyer, has defended transportation companies and their insurers throughout Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York for two decades. He has obtained multiple verdicts and favorable settlements on behalf of clients facing complex catastrophic injury claims with seven and eight figure demands. Nationally recognized as a leading transportation attorney, Mr. Dumont is frequently called upon to publish and speak to industry groups and insurers on subjects including transportation defense strategies, challenging plaintiff’s witnesses, emerging issues in the litigation, and effective claims management.

“When the opportunity to grow presents itself, and a lateral partner with the experience and reputation of Jon Dumont is the candidate, there is little doubt that a firm like Segal McCambridge has to seize the initiative. We are very selective and measured in the lateral market, and we are thrilled to welcome Jon to the firm so he can continue to be a leader in the transportation arena and expand the services he offers his clients through our national footprint of offices,” said Walter H. (Pete) Swayze, Managing Shareholder of Segal McCambridge’s Philadelphia office and Chairman of the General Litigation Practice Group. Swayze further commented, “I knew Jon would be a good fit at Segal McCambridge from the moment we first discussed the possibility of uniting our practices in this area. It is an exciting time for us.”

“The addition of Jon Dumont and his team of transportation attorneys is a promising development for Segal McCambridge, which has represented transportation-related entities in a wide array of matters since its inception.  Our growth in this area demonstrates our commitment to transportation clients and their insurers on a national scale,” said the firm’s Managing Shareholder, Kathleen McDonough.

Mr. Dumont is an active member of several transportation organizations including the Trucking Industry Defense Association, Transportation Lawyers Association, and Defense Research Institute. He received his J.D. from Villanova University and both a B.A. and M.A. from Boston University.

Of Counsel Cynthia M. Certo and Dawn L. Jennings, with associates Robyn D. Kazatsky and Grant C. Wright, join Mr. Dumont in Segal McCambridge’s Philadelphia office. Of Counsel Edward Farman will join the firm’s New York City office and will focus on the defense of cargo claims. Prior to transitioning to Segal McCambridge, Mr. Dumont and his team practiced at a prominent civil litigation defense firm based in Philadelphia. This latest addition to Segal McCambridge represents a significant step in the firm’s strategic plan to expand its robust litigation practice on the East Coast and nationally.
