Prior to practicing law, he was an executive with Equifax, Inc., where he led important aspects of its risk management and card services businesses, including an internal automated locations services startup division.

Edwards earned a J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School and a B.A., cum laude, from Morehouse College. After law school, he served as a judicial clerk for Judge Roger L. Gregory in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit in Richmond, Virginia, and for Judge Raymond A.
