Former U.S. Senator Jeffrey Chiesa Rejoins Wolff & Samson

Former United States Senator Jeffrey S. Chiesa has rejoined Wolff & Samson. Prior to serving as a U.S. Senator from New Jersey, Mr. Chiesa was the New Jersey Attorney General.

Mr. Chiesa was appointed to the Senate in June 2013 by Governor Chris Christie to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Senator Frank Lautenberg. From 2012 to 2013, he was the New Jersey Attorney General, and from 2010 to 2012 served as Chief Counsel to Governor Christie.

Before joining Governor Christie’s Cabinet, Mr. Chiesa was a member of Wolff & Samson. Prior to that, he worked in the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the District of New Jersey, last serving as the executive assistant U.S. attorney. He also served as counsel to the U.S. attorney and as chief of the Public Protection Unit. Before holding these leadership positions at the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Mr. Chiesa served as an assistant U.S. attorney in the Special Prosecutions Division.

Mr. Chiesa was the third Wolff & Samson partner to serve as New Jersey Attorney General following David Samson and Irwin Kimmelman. He will practice in Wolff & Samson’s Litigation, Corporate Internal Investigations and White Collar Criminal Defense Groups.

“I could not be more pleased to welcome Jeff back to Wolff & Samson,” said David Samson, founding member of the firm. “Jeff embodies a level of integrity and professionalism that deservedly earns him the highest degree of respect among clients and colleagues alike. Having served as chief counsel to Governor Christie and as the State’s Attorney General, Jeff’s legal acumen is unrivaled. His return to the firm underscores Wolff & Samson’s commitment to ensure that we provide our clients with the most skilled counsel available. We know he will enjoy a seamless transition back into our firm and we are delighted to welcome him.”

Mr. Chiesa is licensed to practice in New Jersey, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey. He earned his J.D. from the Columbus School of Law at The Catholic University of America.
