Hogan Lovells today announced that former Department of Justice litigator Justin Savage will join the firm’s Washington, D.C. office as a partner. For nearly a decade, Savage worked in the Department of Justice (“DOJ”) Environment and Natural Resources Division, where he was Senior Counsel and one of DOJ’s leading environmental trial lawyers.
Savage brings a significant amount of environmental and trial litigation experience to Hogan Lovells, having served as lead counsel in cases securing over US$5 billion in relief. His numerous commendations include DOJ’s highest honor, the John Marshall Award. In recognition of his litigation expertise, Savage served as an instructor in trial advocacy and evidence at DOJ’s National Advocacy Center. Prior to joining DOJ, Savage represented Fortune 500 companies and trade associations for seven years at an environmental and litigation boutique in Washington, D.C.
Savage considerably bolsters the growing Environmental Litigation practice. He will join Environmental Protection Agency’s (“EPA”) former head of civil enforcement, Adam Kushner, along with leading former DOJ Environmental Defense Trial Attorney, Madeline Fleisher. His arrival, along with the other recent additions, positions the firm as a nationwide leader in the environmental litigation market.

Savage holds a J.D. from the University of Virginia and a B.A. from McNeese State University.
