Joseph Blum & Erin Loucks Join SHB in Philadelphia

Joseph Blum has joined the Philadelphia office of Shook, Hardy & Bacon as a partner focusing on business litigation and employment litigation and policy.

Blum brings to SHB more than 20 years of sought-after litigation experience trying complex tort and commercial cases in state and federal courts. He counsels clients responding to government investigations and subpoenas and has obtained multimillion dollar verdicts for his clients in national and international disputes, involving matters ranging from bankruptcy to tort.

Admitted to the Pennsylvania and New Jersey bars as well as the federal courts in both states, Blum received his J.D. from the Temple University Beasley School of Law and his B.S. from Saint Joseph’s University. He was selected as one of Pennsylvania’s Top Rated Lawyers in 2012 and 2013 for excellence in employment, commercial litigation and tort litigation, and was recognized as one New Jersey’s Top Rated Lawyers in 2012 and 2013 for his work in commercial litigation, labor and employment, and personal injury. Before he pursued a career in law, Blum served as a police officer and lieutenant in the Philadelphia suburbs.

“We are delighted to welcome Joe to the firm and believe he will add depth and dimension to a dynamic practice,” said SHB Philadelphia Managing Partner Sean Wajert. Echoing that sentiment, SHB National Employment Litigation & Policy Practice Chair Bill Martucci said, “The range of Joe’s accomplishments, legal expertise and practical experience will complement and enhance the services that we have long provided to our clients.” Martucci extended a welcome as well to Erin Loucks, a former Deeb Blum associate who joins SHB as an associate in Philadelphia.

Loucks concentrates her practice on employment law and commercial and tort litigation. Licensed to practice law in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey, Loucks also received her J.D. from Temple University. She was awarded a B.A. from the University of Colorado at Boulder. During law school, Loucks interned with the Philadelphia City Solicitor’s Office, Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts and New Jersey Federal Defender’s Office. Before entering law school, she was employed as a technical writer for a Colorado engineering firm. She and Blum have co-authored law journal articles on trade secrets and business law issues and bring the same spirit of dedicated client service to their practice.
