Hunton & Williams LLP Augments Competition Practice, Adds Former Department of Justice Official Jamillia P. Ferris as Partner

The US Department of Justice’s Jamillia P. Ferris has joined Hunton & Williams LLP as a partner in its antitrust and competition practice group. Ferris comes to the firm from the Antitrust Division at the DOJ, where she served as Chief of Staff and Counsel to the Assistant Attorney General. In that capacity she oversaw significant enforcement matters and competition policy matters, including matters involving the high tech, health insurance, and financial services industries. Ferris also was the Antitrust Division’s decision-maker on important matters involving the aerospace and the electronic book industries. As Chief of Staff, Ferris managed budget and personnel issues. She was actively involved with domestic and international enforcement agencies on antitrust policy and enforcement matters, including the Federal Trade Commission and the European Commission. Ferris will be based in the firm’s Washington office.

“The last four years have been very active for the Antitrust Division, and Jamillia was involved in the Obama Administration’s policies and enforcement decisions,” said D. Bruce Hoffman, head of the global competition practice at Hunton & Williams. “Her experience and insights will significantly benefit clients facing matters before the DOJ and FTC, among other agencies. In addition to her strong antitrust experience and recent high-level Justice Department service, Jamillia also has experience in consumer protection and privacy law, which will work well with our strong FTC-oriented practice. We welcome her to our team.”

“Global businesses are becoming increasingly subject to active antitrust enforcement,” said Ferris. “I look forward to being part of Hunton’s prominent global competition practice and to using my recent experience at the Department of Justice to help our clients navigate the ever-changing antitrust landscape.”
