Veteran White Collar Defense Attorney David Laigaie Joins Eckert Seamans in Philadelphia

Eckert Seamans Cherin & Mellott, LLC, a full-service national law firm, announced that David M. Laigaie, a highly regarded White Collar Defense attorney with over 20 years of experience handling internal corporate investigations, grand jury matters, white collar criminal defense, health care fraud and other complex civil litigation, has joined the firm in Philadelphia as a Member (partner). He will lead Eckert Seamans’ Corporate Investigations and White Collar Defense practice.

Laigaie regularly handles cases involving health care fraud, securities fraud, financial services fraud, tax fraud, export violations, pharmaceutical marketing fraud, municipal corruption, defense procurement fraud, DBE/MBE fraud and public finance fraud.

Laigaie represents a wide variety of health care providers including physician practices, hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, mental health providers, home health care agencies, hospices, durable medical equipment manufacturers and pharmaceutical companies in responding to government investigations and in defending alleged violations of the False Claims Act. In addition, he performs internal corporate investigations, defends corporate executives and directors charged with securities fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, mail fraud, wire fraud and tax fraud and counsels corporations on managing compliance and regulatory risks and keeping minor problems from escalating. He also handles a broad assortment of civil litigation, including breaches of non-compete agreements, civil fraud, breaches of contract and other civil disputes.

Laigaie was previously a partner with Dilworth Paxson LLP in Philadelphia, where he served as chair of the firm’s Corporate Investigations & White Collar Group.

Laigaie earned his J.D. from the Temple University School of Law, Master of Government Administration from the University of Pennsylvania Fels Center of Government and his undergraduate degree from Emory University. He is licensed to practice in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
