Greenberg Traurig Grows Intellectual Property & Technology Practice, Adds Shareholder Dr. Weisun Rao in Chicago

Dr. Weisun Rao has joined the Chicago office of the international law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP as a shareholder in the Intellectual Property & Technology practice. He will also spend considerable time in the firm’s Shanghai office.

Dr. Rao will continue to focus his practice on intellectual property law and business law. He is experienced in developing IP strategies and building and managing IP portfolios for legal and business opportunities in the United States, China and elsewhere in the world. Dr. Rao also advises clients on monetizing and enforcing their IP rights throughout the world. Additionally, he counsels clients on IP and business issues in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, nutraceutical, medical device, advanced material and mechanical industries. He is particularly familiar the emerging pharmaceutical R&D and medical device industries in China, and regularly works with many of the key players.

In addition to his active IP practice, Dr. Rao is also particularly experienced in advising non-Chinese clients on legal regulations and business practices in China and advising Chinese businesses interested in entering or expanding in the U.S. market.

Dr. Rao earned his B.Sc. from Jilin University, his Ph.D. from The University of Akron, and his J.D. from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law.
