Latham & Watkins – Experienced Derivatives and Structured Finance Partner Joins London Office

Latham & Watkins is pleased to announce that Dean Naumowicz has joined the firm’s London office as a partner in the Corporate Department. Naumowicz has extensive experience advising on a wide range of derivatives and structured products including credit, equity and commodity transactions. He has particularly well-developed expertise advising on Sharia-compliant derivatives transactions and he has advised on innovative financial structures in emerging markets covering all asset classes.

Naumowicz’s broad practice combines both transactional and advisory expertise. He represents global financial institutions and other clients on derivatives and collateral issues and on highly structured credit transactions. An industry leader, he is a contributor to various International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA) publications, inc. (ISDA) documents.

Jay Sadanandan, Latham & Watkins’ London Deputy Office Managing Partner, said: “Dean is a great addition to our London corporate team and global Financial Institutions Group. His excellent reputation in the market is founded on his work on numerous cutting-edge transactions and his formidable technical skills. Adding his expertise to our London and global platform, coupled with our substantial resources in the corporate and finance practices, places us in a strong position to expand our market share in these areas. His arrival in the London office marks another milestone in our growth strategy to provide clients both in the UK and globally with the most comprehensive offering in core areas.”

“In recent years, we have made a commitment to broaden, strengthen and institutionalise our relationships with the leading global financial institutions and to build the highest-quality practices in the major global financial centres. Few firms can provide Latham’s breadth and depth of experience across product, industry and regulatory areas, and Dean’s practice will complement our traditional strengths and further bolster our cross-border capabilities,” commented Witold Balaban, a derivatives partner who splits his time between the firm’s New York and London offices.

“The opportunity to help grow Latham & Watkins’ English-law derivatives and structured products practice is an exciting one,” said Naumowicz. “Latham has successfully executed a strategy focused on expanding its Financial Institutions Group in the financial capitals of the world, and its global footprint and comprehensive product knowledge are unmatched in the market.”

Naumowicz joins Latham & Watkins from Norton Rose Fulbright in London, where he was a partner and served as the Head of the Derivatives Group. He attained his BA from Emmanuel College, Cambridge University.
