McDermott Expands Congressional Investigations Practice

International law firm McDermott Will & Emery today announced the appointment of Anne Marie Turner as a partner in the Firm’s Government Strategies Practice Group, based in its Washington, D.C. office.

Ms. Turner brings significant experience advising lawmakers on a wide range of issues related to congressional and legislative investigations. She most recently served as senior counsel for the U.S. House Committee on Financial Services, Subcommittee on Oversight & Investigations where she managed the Committee’s report on the collapse of MF Global.

Ms. Turner previously served as senior counsel to former-Minority Whip, Senator Trent Lott advising him on transportation, telecommunications and consumer protection issues.

Ms. Turner began her career on Capitol Hill in 2003 working as counsel for Chairman Tom Davis of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, where she was the lead staffer for the high-profile investigation into steroid use in professional sports. She was also selected to serve on the House Bipartisan Select Committee tasked with investigating the government’s preparation for and response to Hurricane Katrina. Prior to her work on Capitol Hill, Ms. Turner was as a state level prosecutor.

She received her B.A. in Justice from American University in 1998, graduating Cum Laude.
