Macfarlanes has advised HayFin, a credit financing provider, on the raising of its Special Opportunities Credit Fund, which has closed with total commitments of approximately €1.4bn.
The fund will invest opportunistically in both directly originated and existing debt instruments, predominantly senior secured loans and other non-control investments exhibiting a level of complexity.
The fund attracted commitments and interest beyond the hard cap from leading institutional investors, including from corporate and government pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, insurance companies, endowments and family offices from a wide variety of countries.
The Macfarlanes team was led by investment funds partner Alex Amos and tax partner Damien Crossley, who were supported by James McCredie in tax and Alisa Chhoa, Matthew Ridgway and Harriet Hamilton in investment funds.
Alex Amos comments: “We combined our experience in fund formation, our tax expertise and our strong international relationships on what was a very successful fundraising for HayFin despite the tough market. It was great working with them.”
