Accomplished litigator Leslie D. Davis joins Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP today as a partner in the firm’s national Commercial Litigation Practice Group. Leslie is the fourth lateral partner to join the firm’s Chicago office this year, following the arrival of former Assistant United States Attorney Daniel Collins to Drinker Biddle’s White Collar Team, and Theodore Becker and Frances LaFleur to the firm’s Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation Practice Group.
“We are excited to welcome a lawyer as talented as Leslie to the firm,” said Alfred W. Putnam Jr., Chairman of Drinker Biddle. “Her arrival continues our expansion efforts in Chicago, and her breadth of experience also brings tremendous value to our clients nationwide.”
Davis concentrates her practice on complex commercial litigation, including nationwide class actions, tort litigation and media cases. She represents major corporations and institutions in a wide range of matters, including commercial contract and lease disputes, products liability, fraud claims, and insurance class actions.
“Leslie is an outstanding trial lawyer and an excellent addition to our Litigation Practice Group,” said Michael W. McTigue Jr., Chair of the firm’s Litigation Practice. “Her arrival adds further depth as we continue to strengthen and expand our 350-lawyer litigation team.”
An experienced trial lawyer, Davis has been lead counsel for numerous jury trials, bench trials and arbitrations. She has an extensive background in resolving cases in state and federal courts through motion practice and negotiating settlements.
“We take great pride in the fact that exceptional lawyers of Leslie’s caliber have chosen to join our Chicago office,” said Edwin A. Getz, Partner-in-Charge of Drinker’s Chicago Office. “We have a solid reputation for successfully handling complex litigation in all areas of business, both in Chicago and firm wide, and I’m confident that her skills will be highly valued by clients.”
Davis is a member of the Chicago Inn of Court and the Black Women Lawyers Association. Additionally, she is a member of the Board of Directors for Legacy Charter School and
Mt. Sinai Hospital, and has served as an adjunct professor at Roosevelt University and John Marshall Law School. She was recently appointed by Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel as a member of the Chicago Community Development Commission.
Davis earned her law degree at the University of Iowa College of Law, as well as a bachelor’s and master’s degree in journalism and mass media from the University of Iowa.
