The international law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP, announced today that Clarence Davis has joined as shareholder in the firm’s Pharmaceutical, Medical Device & Health Care Litigation and Commercial Litigation practices. Davis will be based in the firm’s Atlanta office. Prior to joining the firm, Davis practiced at Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP in Columbia, South Carolina in the areas of business, pharmaceutical and medical device, toxic torts, product liability, and class action trial defense.
Davis is a trial attorney with more than 30 years of experience in his already extensive career. A former Captain in the U.S. Air Force in the 1980s, Davis was one of 20 Circuit Trial Counsel stationed throughout the world and was responsible for the trial prosecution of serious felonies at air bases in eight states located in the western United States. Davis continued his service in the public sector as Assistant U.S. Attorney for South Carolina, during which time he was trained by the U.S. Department of Justice to work on securities, federal procurement and tax fraud matters, as well as environmental crime. In private practice, Davis’ practice focused on product liability and complex business litigation, in which he often served as lead trial counsel in cases throughout the Southeast and elsewhere, as far away as South Dakota and Wisconsin.
“I am excited by the opportunities that this move brings. Greenberg Traurig’s platform enhances the services that I am able to offer to clients, as the firm provides on-the-ground service in most major commercial centers across the U.S. and internationally and should be able to represent clients for virtually any legal need that may arise,” said Davis. “I am also particularly looking forward to working with the many trial lawyers within the firm who regularly try cases to verdict throughout the United States.”
“We are delighted that Clarence has chosen to join Greenberg Traurig,” said Lori Cohen, chair of the national Trial Practice Group and national Pharmaceutical, Medical Device & Health Care Litigation Practice. “Clarence is a superb trial attorney at the top of his field, and his experience and dedication to providing outstanding client service will enhance our partnerships with clients in the pharmaceutical and medical device industries.”
“By attracting attorneys like Clarence with wide-ranging litigation experience defending complex business litigation and products liability matters, we continue to establish our commitment to excellence both nationally and in Atlanta,” said Ernest L. Greer, Vice President of Greenberg Traurig and Co-Managing Shareholder of the Atlanta office. “We are proud to welcome Clarence to Greenberg Traurig’s strong platform.”
Among myriad accomplishments, Davis has served as co-lead trial counsel in two Tennessee class action suits, has obtained a defense verdict in a Virginia class action federal court trial while serving as lead trial counsel, and has obtained dismissals as lead counsel in two South Carolina class actions, one of which was a toxic tort matter wherein he represented a Fortune 500 chemical company.
