Chadbourne & Parke announced today that leading finance lawyer Çağdaş Selvi has joined the firm’s Istanbul team as a partner. Çağdaş joins the firm from the ASC law firm in Istanbul, where he advised clients on project finance, corporate finance, acquisition finance, banking, capital markets and derivative transactions. His experience involves representation of issuers and underwriters in public and private debt and equity offerings, with an emphasis on Rule 144A/Regulation S placements.
Çağdaş has been heavily involved in energy and infrastructure project finance and acquisition finance transactions, representing major commercial banks and investors. He has also played a significant role in the privatization of the motorways in Turkey on behalf of one of the bidding consortiums, the largest privatization in the Turkish Market in the past 10 years. He is particularly experienced regarding ISDA and ISMA documents, CDS and CLN documentation and related transactions.
“Çağdaş’s wealth of experience—particularly in banking and project finance transactions—is a perfect fit with the firm’s expanding finance practice in the EMEA region,” said Ayşe Yüksel, managing partner of the Istanbul office. “We’re very pleased to welcome him to our team.”
Çağdaş’s arrival adds new depth to Chadbourne’s Istanbul office, which recently represented the Privatization Administration of the Republic of Turkey in its sale of a 23.9% stake in Türkiye Halk Bankası A.Ş. via a secondary public offering—the largest capital markets offering of a Turkish issuer to date.
“I am thrilled to join a top-tier international finance practice,” said Çağdaş Selvi, “The firm offers an ideal environment in which to continue to grow my practice.”
Çağdaş is a graduate of the Istanbul University Faculty of Law, and he received an LLM in International Commercial Law from Yeditepe University in Istanbul.
