Employee Benefits Attorney, Jorge M. Leon, Joins Michael Best

Michael Best & Friedrich LLP is pleased to announce that Jorge M. Leon has joined the firm as a partner in the Labor and Employment Practice Group, effective July 15, 2013.

Leon focuses his practice on issues relating to employee benefits. Plan sponsors, plan administrators, plan fiduciaries and third-party recordkeepers seek his counsel on designing, establishing and maintaining qualified and non-qualified retirement plans. He is also well-versed in handling the benefit aspects of large corporate transactions.

He regularly deals with various regulatory, administrative and compliance issues that require him to resolve qualification and fiduciary issues with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and the Department of Labor (DOL). Recently, Leon has represented clients during benefit plan audits conducted by the IRS and the DOL. He advises on ERISA fee litigation issues and represents clients at all stages of participant benefit disputes, from initial claims under a plan to litigation and settlement.

Leon received his B.S. from University of Illinois in 1995 and earned his J.D. in 1998 from University of Illinois College of Law.
