Former federal prosecutor Russell E. Marsh has joined the Las Vegas office of the international law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP. He joins as a shareholder in the firm’s Litigation Practice. Prior to joining the firm, Marsh served as the Chief of the Criminal Division for the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the District of Nevada.
Marsh will focus his practice on white collar criminal defense matters, representing corporations and individuals in federal and state investigations, as well as general commercial litigation. He has experience in a variety of areas, including takeover litigation, environmental law, antitrust advice, public corruption, immigration and narcotics offenses and commercial disputes.
“Russ has significant trial experience and a proven track record of success in the criminal justice arena,” said John Pappalardo, co-chair of Greenberg Traurig’s white collar practice. “Having him join Greenberg Traurig adds a major talent to our local and national litigation and white collar capabilities. Marsh is an experienced trial attorney, having served as a federal prosecutor for more than 12 years. As Chief of the Criminal Division, he managed more than 45 attorneys and support staff and oversaw all criminal prosecutions, with responsibility for case intake, indictment and plea agreement approval. He advised the U.S. Attorney and other senior management on criminal matters and coordinated with federal and local law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, Secret Service, Homeland Security, ATF and DEA. Marsh’s efforts were recognized with an award from the President’s Council on Integrity and Efficiency for his prosecution of eight defendants for student loan fraud and identity theft in a distance learning scam. He was also nominated for a Director’s Award for work on the trial team in the prosecution of the Rolling 60’s street gang.

Marsh earned his J.D., cum laude, from Harvard Law School and his B.A., with high distinction, from the University of Michigan.
Marsh is the most recent hire in the trend of strategic expansion in Greenberg Traurig’s Las Vegas office. Other additions include Real Estate and Corporate shareholder Jodi R. Goodheart and Intellectual Property and Technology of counsel Nancy R. Ayala.
