Robert A. Kauffman Joins Blank Rome, Enhancing Litigation and Business Departments

Blank Rome is pleased to announce that Robert A. Kauffman has joined the Firm as Partner in the Commercial Litigation and Mergers & Acquisitions and Private Equity groups. Mr. Kauffman has nearly 25 years of experience both litigating and analyzing, structuring, and negotiating complex commercial transactions across a wide variety of sectors. He is based in the Firm’s Philadelphia office.

Mr. Kauffman joins Blank Rome from Harleysville Insurance where he served as Senior Vice President, Secretary, General Counsel, and Chief Compliance Officer. At Harleysville, Rob was responsible for the legal, regulatory and compliance functions of the company, which included managing complex and significant legal matters, leading the legal department, acting as a trusted advisor to the Board of Directors, serving on the company’s senior leadership team, managing outside counsel, and overseeing company regulatory and compliance issues. Recently, Rob was head of the legal team that negotiated and structured the acquisition of Harleysville Insurance by Nationwide Insurance that closed in May 2012.

Admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and Florida, Mr. Kauffman received his J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School and his B.A., cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania.
