Polsinelli Expands Its Environmental Law Capabiliites in the St. Louis Area

Polsinelli welcomes environmental attorney Christopher Erker to the firm as a shareholder. Erker joins a national Environmental and Natural Resources Practice with attorneys in Denver, Kansas City, Phoenix, Washington, D.C. and now St. Louis. Erker assists clients locally and nationally and for the past 18 years has concentrated exclusively on environmental matters and health and safety matters.

“We’re excited to add Chris to the growing St. Louis office,” said Randy S. Gerber, managing director of the St. Louis office. “We’re very happy to be adding this new capability to the St. Louis area and know that Chris will be a tremendous asset locally and nationally.”

Chambers ranked Erker as a national leader in environmental law in 2013. Throughout his career, Erker has assisted corporate clients with a wide range of environmental matters. His primary practice areas include regulatory compliance counseling, mergers and acquisitions, real estate, brownfields transactions, environmental enforcement defense, occupational safety and health counseling and defense.

“I’ve known and practiced with a number of the environmental attorneys at Polsinelli over the years,” said Erker. “I look forward to collaborating with them again. The resources the firm offers are sophisticated and will provide great value for my clients. It’s a strong fit for my practice.”

The Environmental and Natural Resources Practice provides representation and guidance in all areas of environmental, energy, health and safety, and natural resources law. The group also assists clients in understanding the impact of environmental laws, regulations and policies on their businesses and organizations, as well as shaping laws, regulations and policies through advocacy before federal, state and local lawmakers and regulatory agencies.

Erker received his law degree from St. Louis University in 1992. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Marquette University in 1989 and was a member of the dean’s list. He has been a member of the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis and The Missouri Bar since 1992. Erker serves on the board of directors of Forest ReLeaf of Missouri. He is a resident of University City, Mo. and enjoys motorcycling, bicycling, and golf in his spare time.

The St. Louis office of Polsinelli Shughart has experienced a tremendous expansion during the past year. The number of attorneys in the office grew by 30 in the last year to more than 115 including experienced lawyers in key industry groups such as health care, labor and employment, immigration, financial services, life sciences, and real estate.
