Davis Polk advised Valeo SA, one of the world’s top automotive suppliers, in connection with the completion of the sale of its access mechanisms business to Japanese U-Shin Ltd., one of Asia’s largest producers of automotive access mechanisms. The completion of the sale occurred on May 24, 2013.
With €580 million in sales in 2012 and 4,500 employees operating in 12 industrial sites, the access mechanisms business comprises products such as locksets, steering column locks, handles and latches. Through the acquisition of Valeo’s access mechanisms business, U-Shin is becoming a global market leader with a front-rank presence in Asia, Europe and South America. The completed divestment is aligned with Valeo’s strategy of focusing on solutions to reduce CO2 emissions and on stepping up its development in Asia and the emerging markets.
The Davis Polk corporate team included partner Christophe Perchet, associates Juliette Loget and Hadrien Schlumberger and law clerk Yosra Jarraya. All members of the Davis Polk team are based in the Paris office.
