Seyfarth Shaw LLP announced today the arrival of partner Steven R. Meier to the firm’s Corporate department in Chicago. Meier joins Seyfarth from Jenner & Block LLP, where he was the co-chair of the Real Estate Securities practice and a member of its Tax department.
Meier’s diverse tax practice involves all aspects of federal taxation. He counsels clients on the design, implementation, disposition and workout of real estate investment programs, including real estate investment funds and complex like-kind exchange programs. Meier has worked with public companies, private equity firms and entrepreneurs on the tax aspects of mergers and acquisitions transactions. He also advises clients on tax and business planning for tax-exempt organizations (including trade associations and private foundations) and advises on tax controversy matters.

Meier is a frequent speaker on tax and business issues in real estate securities programs, mergers and acquisitions transactions, as well as tax and business issues for tax-exempt organizations. He received his B.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, a master’s degree from Harvard University, and his J.D. from Columbia University School of Law.
