The global law firm Jones Day has announced that J. Andrew Jackson has joined the Washington Office as a partner in the Firm’s Government Regulation Practice. Formerly a partner in Dickstein Shapiro LLP’s Washington office, Mr. Jackson has served as a U.S. Department of Justice trial lawyer in False Claims Act and government contract litigation.
“At a time of dizzying regulatory change, Andy’s arrival adds even more firepower to Jones Day’s Firmwide array of government contracts, compliance, investigatory and False Claims Act and qui tam defense assets,” said Noel Francisco, chairman of Jones Day’s Government Regulation Practice. “His comprehensive trial experience in both defense and prosecution will be especially welcome to clients.”
“Andy brings great experience across a range of industries, but many of us in D.C. are particularly pleased by his government contract and health care credentials, which fit well with the formidable resources we’re building in those areas,” said Greg Shumaker, Partner-in-Charge of Jones Day’s Washington Office. “Andy will be an excellent addition to a variety of our litigation efforts.”
Besides defending clients against fraud and false claims allegations and litigating affirmative claims against the government, Mr. Jackson has substantial experience in complex commercial litigation, including class action defense. His practice has spanned the pharmaceuticals, software, technology, engineering, construction, and shipbuilding industries, among others.
A graduate of the Virginia Military Institute (B.S. in electrical engineering, with distinction, 1981), West Virginia University (J.D. 1984), and The George Washington University Law School (LL.M. in government procurement law 1989), Mr. Jackson has spoken frequently and published on government contracts issues and currently serves as a Vice Chairman of the Procurement Fraud Committee of the Public Contract Section of the American Bar Association.
