Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney PC, a national law firm with 450 lawyers and government relations professionals, announced that Robert N. Wolkofsky, a partner in the finance practice of K&L Gates, joined the firm as a shareholder in its Financial Services practice.
Wolkofsky’s move to Buchanan adds another layer of banking depth to the Charlotte office, which includes banking and finance lawyers Mike Wielechowski, Nathan Fuller, Andrew Berrier and Kerri DeRuyter. Buchanan counts among its clients most of the largest financial institutions in the country, and Charlotte is the nation’s second largest financial center by assets. In addition to serving as the headquarters location for Bank of America and the East Coast operations of Wells Fargo Bank, Charlotte is also a key market for Fifth Third Bank, RBS Citizens and PNC Bank, which acquired Raleigh-based RBC Bank and its 424 branches located throughout the Carolinas, Virginia and south to Florida.
“Robert’s practice meshes perfectly with our local strengths as well as the firm’s national platform in the financial services sector,” said Wielechowski, who opened the firm’s local office in October of 2012. “We will continue to strengthen the Charlotte office with strategic hires that are in line with client needs,” he added. The firm’s offices are located in the Carillon Building.
Wolkofsky, who represents banks, corporate clients and private equity groups in commercial lending transactions including syndicated and non-syndicated working capital, acquisition financings, workouts and restructurings, mezzanine financings, real estate financings and other corporate matters, said “Buchanan’s significant financial services client base and strong commitment to client relationships made this move attractive.”
