Dechert Strengthens its German Practice with Addition of Norbert Fischbach as New National Partner in Frankfurt

Dechert LLP announced today that Norbert Fischbach has joined the firm’s Corporate & Securities group as a national partner in the Frankfurt office. His arrival further strengthens Dechert’s corporate and tax capabilities in Germany. Previously, Fischbach was counsel at Fried Frank, where he worked closely with Sven Schulte-Hillen, a corporate partner in Dechert’s Frankfurt office who joined the firm in March 2012. Prior to that, Fischbach worked for several years in the tax practice of one of the “big four” accountancy firms.

A lawyer and certified tax advisor, Fischbach focuses his practice on transactional tax law, with particular emphasis on mergers and acquisitions, leveraged and management buyouts, and finance transactions. Throughout his career, he has been involved in a range of major buyouts by financial investors.

Federico Pappalardo, head of Dechert’s German corporate practice, said “We are pleased to welcome such a charismatic tax lawyer as Norbert to our growing German corporate team to better serve our clients’ business needs with regard to greater efficiency in their tax planning and compliance efforts.”

“I am delighted to join Dechert and to work with my new colleagues, and I hope I can make a contribution to the success of the firm,” adds Fischbach.

Fischbach is a graduate of the University of Munich and regularly lectures at the Universities of Frankfurt (Institute of Law and Finance) and Worms. He is fluent in German, English, Portuguese and Russian.

In July 2012, Dr. Markus Friedl joined the firm as a national partner in the Corporate & Securities group in Frankfurt. With the additions of Fischbach and Friedl, Dechert now has four corporate lawyers working in the Frankfurt office and 10 corporate lawyers working in the Munich office. Together, they offer seamless, high-quality legal advice to clients in Germany and around the world.
