Mayer Brown Continues Expansion of M&A and Restructuring Capabilities With Arrival of New Three-Lawyer Team in Germany

Mayer Brown announced today that it will further strengthen its Corporate & Securities practice with the arrival of Dr. André Schwanna in Frankfurt in April 2016. Mr. Schwanna will join from Clifford Chance, where he has been a partner for seven years. In addition, partner Dr. Benjamin Büttner and counsel Dr. Alexander Täumer are joining Mayer Brown in Frankfurt.

“The arrival of André and his team builds on the momentum established when Klaus Riehmer joined Mayer Brown to lead our Corporate & Securities practice in Germany,” said Marc Sperber, leader of Mayer Brown’s global Corporate & Securities practice. “They will help us execute the strategic objective of increasing the size and scope of our German offices.”

The well-established and highly experienced team advises financial institutions and industrial companies in Germany and abroad on M&A transactions and corporate reorganizations, restructurings and crisis management, as well as tax structuring and other corporate matters.

“With the addition of André, Benjamin and Alex, we are continuing our focused growth of our Corporate & Securities practice and M&A capabilities,” said Guido Zeppenfeld, Mayer Brown’s managing partner in Germany. “They enable us to strengthen important competences of the firm nationally and internationally.”

“We are very pleased to add this experienced team to our group as we further expand our practice,” said Klaus Riehmer, who joined Mayer Brown in August.
