Eversheds Sutherland Enhances Energy and Infrastructure Offering With New Partner Appointment

James Gibson adds to growing planning and infrastructure capability in Scotland and across UK. Eversheds Sutherland has continued the expansion of its renewable energy and infrastructure offering with the appointment of James Gibson as Partner to its planning and infrastructure team. James, who has substantial experience advising clients in Scotland and England & Wales, joins from Pinsent Masons, where he acted on significant projects across carbon capture, hydrogen, offshore and onshore wind. He has also regularly advised on the consenting and environmental aspects of port developments across the UK.

This move takes James back to Eversheds Sutherland where he started his post-qualification career in 2013, before leaving for Herbert Smith Freehills and Pinsent Masons. This latest appointment gives the Eversheds Sutherland planning team additional local knowledge in Scotland to help clients to fulfil their energy and infrastructure mandates.

Euan Smith, Senior Office Partner in Edinburgh, Eversheds Sutherland, comments:

“James’s talent, in-depth experience and sector knowledge makes him a key hire for our practice. It is great to welcome him back to Eversheds Sutherland where he started his career. His knowledge will give invaluable support to clients with their plans for investing in renewables and real estate and we all look forward to working with him.”

James Gibson, Partner, Eversheds Sutherland, comments:

“I’ve had some great experiences in my career and I’m excited about returning to the growing Eversheds Sutherland team in Scotland. I’m also looking forward to working with the talented planning and infrastructure team that has already worked on some landmark renewables projects in the UK.”

Paul Maile, Partner and Head of Planning and Infrastructure Team at Eversheds Sutherland, comments:

“James brings a wealth of knowledge to the team enhancing our existing capability. He is well-recognised by the industry for the high quality of his work and advice. He brings with him the experience of having already delivered major projects in the renewables space and we are thrilled to welcome him back to the firm.”

This adds to the lateral hire of Alan Cook, Real Estate Partner, in July bolstering experience in onshore and offshore wind, to deliver large, ambitious renewables projects for clients in Scotland and across the UK.
