Butzel Long adds attorney with multi practices focused on Cannabis Law, Real Estate and Litigation, respectively

Attorney Michelle R. E. Donovan has joined Butzel Long as a Shareholder in the firm’s Bloomfield Hills office. Her multi-practice focuses on Cannabis Law, Real Estate and Litigation.

Notably, Donovan has extensive experience with the Michigan Medical Marihuana Facilities Licensing Act (MMFLA). She has assisted clients with the process for applying for pre-qualification and license qualification status and has recently secured the first Oakland County provisioning center license. She is frequently sought in the media for numerous television and print appearances regarding her knowledge in this industry.

Donovan also focuses her practice in all areas of real estate, including construction, title insurance, including experience handling property tax appeals, eminent domain litigation, nuisance abatements, and forfeitures.

At the same time, Donovan has experience in all facets of probate law, including trust and estate administration, guardianship and conservatorships. She was appointed by the Michigan Attorney General as Macomb County Public Administrator, an appointed position.

Further, she has extensive knowledge of title insurance with more than 26 years of experience working in the industry; providing insight into problem-solving and achieving the optimal result for clients.

She has expertise in various aspects of complex litigation, with achieving the optimal result for her clients.

Donovan received her J.D. from Western Michigan University Cooley Law School in 1999 and her B.A. from the University of Detroit Mercy in 1991. She has been and an adjunct at Western Michigan Cooley Law School for 10 years.
