Perkins Coie Welcomes Mark Roellig as Senior Client Advisor

Perkins Coie is pleased to announce that Mark Roellig has joined the firm as Senior Client Advisor to support Perkins Coie’s client service efforts, including its Client Advantage program. Mark previously served as Executive Vice President, Secretary and General Counsel for Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company.

Mark has more than 30 years of experience in corporate legal departments, including as general counsel and secretary for four Fortune 500 companies. In addition to his legal duties, Mark has been responsible for corporate strategy, public policy, government relations, internal audits, compliance, human resources, business resources, facilities and real estate management, and information technology.

“Mark has a proven reputation for leading successful in-house counsel and administrative teams, as shown by the fact that 16 individuals who worked for Mark went on to become general counsel at significant enterprises,” said William Malley, Perkins Coie’s Firmwide Managing Partner. “Mark’s three decades of experience across all facets of business operations will be a tremendous resource to clients who seek new ideas and approaches to improve their legal departments and the delivery of legal services.”

As Senior Client Advisor, Mark will advise and consult with general counsel on a range of law department management issues. Mark’s services further augment Perkins Coie’s Client Advantage program, which offers firm clients access to a large and diversified roster of experienced business professionals who work alongside the legal team to identify and develop solutions that address a variety of legal operations and business challenges.

“Mark will serve as a valuable resource for our clients’ legal departments, which are increasingly asked to do more with less,” said Steven Hedberg, Perkins Coie’s Chief Operating Officer. “Developing innovative solutions to address legal operations and other business challenges has been a key way that we have differentiated our services.”

In addition to his in-house legal experience, Mark has taught students and lawyers at the University of Colorado Law School and in the Deloitte Future CLO program. He was Co-Chair of the Practicing Law Institute’s Corporate Counsel Institute for four years and is also a frequent author and speaker on legal operations and other topics of interest to general counsel and legal departments.
