More Growth in Denver for Polsinelli Shughart’s Health Care Practice

Polsinelli Shughart welcomes Denver attorney Emily E. Wey to the firm’s national health care practice as shareholder. Wey will focus on a variety of operational, transactional and compliance issues for health care providers.  Having served as in-house counsel for both payors and providers, Wey has developed in-depth knowledge of issues involving private reimbursement and payor contracting. She joins a deep bench of firm health care attorneys who advise clients in the increasingly complex, ever-changing landscape of health care law and regulatory compliance responsibilities.

“I have the highest regard for the sophisticated level of law Polsinelli’s attorneys are practicing at the firm,” said Wey, “not only in the health care practice but nationwide. The qualities of the practices across the board are attractive to me and my clients. I’m excited to be joining one of the fastest growing law firms in the country.”
The firm’s Health Care practice includes more than 85 attorneys in Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Kansas City, Los Angeles, St. Joseph, St. Louis and Washington, D.C. The firm added a large group of prominent health care attorneys to the Denver office in 2011. Polsinelli Shughart recently ranked as the sixth largest health care law firm in the nation, according to the 2011 rankings from Modern Healthcare magazine.
“Emily brings a focused sub-specialty to the firm, one that our clients will find attractive,” said Matt Murer, chair of the Health Care practice group. “She is one of a very small group of attorneys nationwide who have a deep understanding of the complex issues surrounding private reimbursement and payor contracting through her years as in-house counsel for payors and providers. She will provide great value for our clients.”
Wey earned her law degree from Georgetown University Law Center in 1994, and a B.A. from Amherst College in 1990. She is very involved in trade associations for her area of law and is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association; the Colorado Bar Association; and the Denver Bar Association.  Wey also is an American Arbitration Association neutral for the AAA’s Payor Provider dispute resolution program. The Denver Business Journal included Wey in its “40 Under 40” class for 2008.
