Polsinelli Further Deepens Dallas Footprint with Addition of Experienced M&A Shareholder Matt Smith

Polsinelli is pleased to announce that its Dallas office is continuing its growth momentum with the addition of Matt Smith as a shareholder in its Private Equity Mergers & Acquisitions Practice. Smith lands at the firm from Atwood & McCall in Dallas.

With nearly two decades of experience guiding clients through complex transactions, Smith is a trusted advisor to entrepreneurs, funds, investors and businesses as they navigate mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance and commercial transactions. Prior to joining Polsinelli, Smith spent more than a decade serving as in-house general counsel to leading institutions across the financial services and technology sectors.

“Matt’s arrival deepens our bench of seasoned deal lawyers providing sophisticated counsel to clients,” said Frank Koranda, Chair of Polsinelli’s Private Equity Mergers & Acquisitions Practice. “He understands the challenges investors and businesses face and will further enhance the strategic counsel we deliver across industries and geographies.”

Smith’s arrival comes on the heels of the Dallas office’s relocation to the prestigious Old Parkland campus, a move that highlights Polsinelli’s continued investment and strategic growth in Texas.

“Matt brings significant in-house experience and a business-first approach that our clients value most,” said Brian A. Bullard, Dallas Office Managing Partner and Chair of Polsinelli’s Investment Strategies & Capital Solutions Practice. “As we settle into our new office space in Dallas, Matt’s arrival reflects our sustained growth and commitment to expanding our team to meet sophisticated client demand. We are excited to have him on board.”

Smith advises clients across diverse industries, including construction, health care, manufacturing, energy, logistics, home services, software and technology.

In addition, Smith also represents venture capital and private equity sponsors in fund formation and investment matters, counsels family offices and investors on direct and minority investments and advises fundless sponsors and searchfunders in structuring investment platforms. He also regularly advises business owners and private investors on corporate, transactional and strategic matters, including financings, debt and equity transactions, corporate governance and succession planning.

“I am thrilled to join Polsinelli’s Dallas office at such an exciting time. Polsinelli’s culture of innovation, commitment to growth in Texas and deep expertise align perfectly with my client service goals,” said Smith. “The firm’s strength in key geographic areas as well as the health care, technology and construction sectors aligns with my clients’ needs and offers extensive opportunities to collaborate and grow.”

Smith earned his J.D. from Columbia Law School and his B.A., summa cum laude, from the University of California, Los Angeles.
