Corporate Tax Attorney Mark Melton Joins Holland & Knight in Dallas

Tax attorney Mark Melton has joined Holland & Knight as a partner in the firm’s Dallas office. He was previously an attorney with Hunton Andrews Kurth. Earlier in his career, Mr. Melton was a fund tax manager for a multi-billion dollar international private equity group.

Mr. Melton focuses on federal income taxation issues related to domestic and international transactions of private equity and hedge funds, as well as other investment partnerships, joint ventures and operating businesses. More specifically, Mr. Melton assists clients with investment fund formation, deal acquisition structuring, financial instruments and derivatives, and audit representation.

Mr. Melton is recognized as a Rising Star by Super Lawyers and is listed among the Best Lawyers in Dallas by D Magazine. He was named a “40 Under 40” professional by the Dallas Business Journal in 2015.

In 2017, Mr. Melton was appointed by the mayor as chair of the Dallas Judicial Nominating Commission and he is currently leading a major criminal justice reform project.

Mr. Melton received a J.D. degree from Southern Methodist University and an M.S. in taxation and B.B.A. in accounting from the University of Texas at Arlington.
