Bell Nunnally Adds Jeffrey Ansley

Bell Nunnally & Martin LLP has added Jeffrey J. Ansley as a partner and member of the firm’s Litigation and White Collar Defense and Internal Investigations practices. Ansley joins the firm from Curran Tomko Tarski LLP in Dallas.

“Jeff is a great addition to the firm. Our clients will benefit from his expertise and his experience as a former federal criminal prosecutor and enforcement attorney,” said James Skochdopole, managing partner of Bell Nunnally.

Ansley serves as defense and trial counsel for clients in complex criminal and regulatory investigations and charged proceedings. His practice concentrates on the defense of clients involved in federal criminal and enforcement proceedings and parallel and separate white collar investigations. Ansley frequently defends clients in criminal matters involving allegations of securities fraud, health care fraud and other alleged business crimes.

Ansley also handles federal and state administrative actions instituted by securities and banking regulators, including acting as counsel for corporations, broker-dealers, investment advisers and officers and directors of regulated entities. As part of his securities defense practice, he frequently appears before the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Texas State Securities Board and similar state regulatory bodies and the U.S. Department of Justice. In addition, Ansley conducts internal investigations on behalf of corporate clients, and has served as lead counsel in numerous jury and non-jury trials and grand jury proceedings.

Prior to entering private practice, Ansley served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Major Fraud and Public Corruption Section of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Texas. As a federal prosecutor, he successfully tried and prosecuted multiple complex securities fraud cases and other complex crimes. Ansley also led the Securities Fraud Task Force for the Northern District, coordinating the actions of a multi-agency criminal and regulatory task force.

Ansley also previously was appointed a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Oklahoma and served as an enforcement attorney in the Fort Worth Regional Office of the SEC.

A frequent author and speaker, Ansley has published articles in publications including Texas Lawyer and Bloomberg Law’s White Collar Crime Report. Recognized by his peers, he has been named by Super Lawyers a “Texas Super Lawyer” for three consecutive years.

Ansley is a graduate of Southern Methodist University’s Dedman School of Law (J.D., 1994) and Texas A&M University (B.A., 1991).
