Patton Boggs Strengthens REIT, Corporate Finance Practices with Addition of Kenneth L. Betts and Laurie G. Lang to Dallas Office

Patton Boggs today announced that Kenneth L. Betts and Laurie G. Lang have joined the firm in its Dallas office as of counsel and partner, respectively. The addition of Mr. Betts and Ms. Lang enhances the firm’s REIT and corporate finance capabilities and further deepens Patton Boggs’ bench of seasoned corporate finance attorneys. The move follows the recent addition of Gina E. Betts, former partner and chair of the private equity practice in the Dallas office of Locke Lord, as a partner.

Mr. Betts, who joins Patton Boggs from the corporate and securities practice of Locke Lord, represents real estate investment trusts (REITs) and other issuers and underwriters in public and private offerings of debt and equity securities. He has extensive experience structuring listed and non-traded public offerings, UPREIT and DownReit acquisitions and REIT mergers, as well as in structuring joint ventures and other general business arrangements.

Ms. Lang brings a sophisticated knowledge of a wide variety of corporate financing transactions to Patton Boggs. Her extensive experience includes senior and subordinated financings, secured and unsecured loan transactions, merger and acquisition financing, and workouts and restructurings across many industries, including real estate, energy, technology, communications, media, and healthcare.

“We are delighted to welcome Ken and Laurie to the firm,” said Michael S. Forshey, managing partner of the Dallas office of Patton Boggs. “Ken brings highly focused skills and a deep knowledge of real estate investment trusts that will greatly expand our existing practice, while Laurie brings extensive transactional experience across diverse industries. Both will nicely complement our existing team and be an asset to clients.”

Members of Patton Boggs’ Finance practice counsel multinational financial institutions, commercial enterprises, capital companies and investment funds in all aspects of their public and private financing, investment and capital formation activities, in their capacities as capital providers as well as issuers. The tremendous depth of experience of the firm’s finance teams spans virtually all forms of debt and equity financings and virtually all industries, and many of the firm’s partners are nationally recognized leaders in their field.
