Venable Continues to Expand Its Capabilities in Chicago with the Addition of Experienced Disputes Lawyer Michael Morkin

Venable LLP is pleased to announce that Michael L. Morkin has joined the firm as a partner in the Litigation Practice in the Chicago office. Mr. Morkin is a recognized practitioner in international arbitration and litigation. Morkin joins Venable after over 30 years with Baker & McKenzie LLP in Chicago.

With experience leading the largest and busiest international arbitration practice in the world, Mr. Morkin has seen it all. He has handled arbitrations in Asia, Latin America, Europe, the Caribbean, and throughout the United States under the rules of institutions, including the International Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), International Centre for Dispute Resolution (ICDR), Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC), United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL), American Arbitration Association (AAA), London Maritime Arbitrators Association, and numerous ad hoc arbitrations. Relying on his extensive experience, he has won more than $1 billion in arbitration awards for clients across numerous industries.

Mr. Morkin also previously served as the managing partner of a prominent multinational law firm’s Chicago office. Having successfully managed that significant business to record headcount, brand recognition, revenue, and profit, Mr. Morkin brings a unique commercial understanding to his already successful track record as counsel.

Mr. Morkin received his J.D. from the University of Illinois College of Law in 1990 and his B.A. from Augustana College in 1987.
