Real Estate and Construction Partner Joins K&L Gates’ Chicago Office

Global law firm K&L Gates LLP welcomes Larry Woodard as a partner in the Real Estate practice area. Woodard joins the firm’s Chicago office from Honigman LLP, where he was a co-leader of the construction planning practice.

Woodard’s wide range of experience in real estate and construction law includes an extensive background in such areas as development, acquisitions and dispositions, leasing, construction, financing, and restructuring. He represents Fortune 500 companies, developers and contractors, regional and national banks, institutional investors, institutions of higher education, and others in the development, management, financing, construction, leasing, zoning, acquisition, and disposal of their real estate interests, across a variety of asset classes.

Woodard also handles complex, cross-jurisdictional matters involving multiple parties, properties, and sources of capital. He has substantial experience with structuring investment entities, joint ventures, syndications, and loan workouts and foreclosures, as well as overseeing litigation strategy relating to construction and real estate disputes.

Michael Martinez, managing partner of K&L Gates’ Chicago office, said: “We are excited to add Larry’s broad real estate and construction experience to K&L Gates’ large and sophisticated Real Estate practice.”

Woodard’s arrival follows the recent additions of fellow real estate partner Jennifer McCosker in Sydney as well as of counsel David Boyer in Portland, with the firm also welcoming real estate partners Matt Harris and Rick Pensinger and of counsel Christian Schütz in Nashville in early 2022. They are among nearly 165 partners and of counsel the firm has welcomed across its global platform since the beginning of 2020.

Matt Norton, a leader of the firm’s global Real Estate practice, stated: “Our global Real Estate practice is delighted to welcome Larry to the firm. His experience across numerous industries and background within both real estate and construction are welcomed additions to our practice. Larry’s arrival in Chicago will allow us to continue to deliver quality service to our Chicago-based and firmwide clients.”

Lawyers in K&L Gates’ large, diversified Real Estate practice advise clients in a variety of real estate investment, land use, planning and zoning, development and construction, financing, leasing, tax, and litigation matters around the world.
