Polsinelli Adds Litigation Shareholder in Chicago

Polsinelli, an Am Law 100 firm, announced today that litigator Bryan M. Westhoff has joined its Chicago office as a shareholder.

Westhoff has substantial experience handling a wide variety of complex domestic and international commercial law cases, arbitrations and government investigations. Most recently, he led a team defending an international proprietary educational institution against false advertising and deceptive trade practices claims brought by the Federal Trade Commission. In addition to his false advertising and deceptive trade practices experience, Westhoff’s primary areas of practice include M&A related litigation (pre- and post-closing), securities and financial claims, and other contract and fraud cases. He also has significant experience in expedited litigation, including arguing numerous motions for preliminary injunction and temporary restraining orders.

Westhoff has successfully handled cases of all sizes, including several “bet the company” cases with more than $1 billion in potential exposure. He also has successfully argued before multiple numerous federal and state courts, including the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

“Bryan’s skills as a creative, business-minded litigator are a great fit for our team and for our clients’ needs,” said Stacy A. Carpenter, who chairs Polsinelli’s Commercial Litigation practice. “He has the skills and experience to zealously defend key interests in high-stakes matters.”

Polsinelli’s trial lawyers represent organizations in multiple industries, including banking and finance, construction, health care, manufacturing, mining, pharmaceutical, public utilities, technology, telecommunications, and transportation. The firm was designated by general counsel as one of the top six “Powerhouses” nationwide in Complex Litigation and a Standout in Everyday Commercial Litigation in the BTI Litigation Outlook 2017 report, and received a National Tier 1 ranking from U.S. News and World Report.

“With its deep bench of business-minded attorneys and its focus on outstanding client service, Polsinelli is a great place to be,” Westhoff said. “This is an ideal place for my clients to tap into a full range of legal resources to meet their business needs and for me to continue providing the quality and value that my clients expect.”

Westhoff is a graduate of Washington University School of Law in St. Louis.
