Wade Kennedy, a highly regarded lawyer who focuses on asset-based lending and syndicated financings, has joined Holland & Knight as a partner in the firm’s Chicago office. He will be co-chair of the firm’s Asset-Based Lending Team along with Christopher Dillon in Atlanta. Mr. Kennedy was previously the head of the asset-based lending group at McGuireWoods LLP.
Less than a month after the launch of its Data Centers and Digital Infrastructure Practice, top 100 U.S. law firm Akerman LLP has expanded the national practice with partner Bruce “Eddie” Lowry in Chicago. He follows the arrival of James Grice, chair of the Data Centers and Digital Infrastructure Practice, and partner Michael McKinley. Lowry joins from Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner in Chicago.

The team previously comprised Clean Law PC, a Chicago-based boutique renewables real estate firm representing leading and emerging developers and operators of clean energy projects in the United States and globally.
Cozen O’Connor introduced insurance litigator Kimberly Petrina — former head of North American Casualty Claims at a global specialty insurance company — as the newest member of its fast-growing Global Insurance Department. Petrina, who joins as a member, will work out of the firm’s Chicago office. She is the 16th attorney to join Cozen O’Connor’s Global Insurance Department in 2022, which has grown to over 100 lawyers nationwide. Petrina was previously Head of North American Casualty Claims at AXIS Capital in Chicago.

King & Spalding announced today that Danna Horton, a real estate lawyer with extensive experience serving the commercial real estate and financial services industries, has joined the firm as a partner in its Corporate, Finance and Investments (CFI) practice group. Horton is based in the firm’s Chicago office. Horton joins the firm from Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP in Chicago.
Asher Funk, an attorney who focuses on representing health care providers in transactions, regulatory counseling, compliance matters, government investigations, and enforcement actions, has joined Troutman Pepper’s Health Sciences Transactional Practice Group in Chicago as a partner. Funk comes to the firm from Polsinelli PC, and is the sixth attorney to join the firm’s national Health Sciences Department in recent months. In April, the firm welcomed three partners to the team, data privacy Partner Jonathan Ishee and corporate Partners Geoff Starr and Abe Kwon. Lori Trujillo and Brian Wong also joined the firm as counsel in its Los Angeles and New York offices, respectively, earlier this month.
