Leading Corporate and Private Equity Partner Andrew McCune Joins Holland & Knight in Chicago

Holland & Knight has strengthened its nationally recognized Corporate, M&A and Securities Practice Group with the addition of Private Equity Partner Andrew McCune in Chicago. Mr. McCune joins the firm from McDermott Will & Emery and is the fourth corporate partner added to Holland & Knight’s Chicago office since December.

“Andrew is a highly regarded private equity attorney with strong client relationships,” said David Wirt, executive partner of Holland & Knight’s Chicago office. “The addition of Andrew furthers our strategic objectives of building upon our already-strong corporate capabilities in Chicago. His breadth of experience and reputation for excellent client service will only help us continue to grow our corporate practice, and we are delighted to welcome him to the firm.”

In Chicago, Mr. McCune will work alongside Matthew Petersen and Morley Fortier III, who joined Holland & Knight from Reed Smith in January, as well as Paul Hogan, who came aboard in December from Eversheds Sutherland.

Mr. McCune represents private equity funds and their portfolio companies on structuring and negotiating complex business transactions, including domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, control and growth equity financings, incentive plans and general corporate matters, with particular experience in healthcare services transactions. He advises traditional committed fund sponsors as well as alternatively funded sponsors and investors, management teams, purchasers and sellers in diverse industries and market segments.

“Andrew’s substantial experience in closing healthcare services transactions dovetails perfectly with our recent combination with Waller Lansden Dortch & Davis, a leading law firm in the healthcare industry for more than 50 years,” said David Barkus, co-leader of the firm’s Corporate, M&A and Securities Practice Group and leader of the firm’s Private Equity Team. “His scope of work aligns seamlessly with the firm’s goal of building a premier private equity practice, and I am certain he will be a great cultural fit for our team.”

Mr. McCune has been recognized as one of the nation’s leading private equity lawyers by Chambers USA since 2007.

“I have always been impressed by the exemplary work Holland & Knight performs on behalf of its clients, and I am eager to be a part of its welcoming and collaborative culture,” Mr. McCune said. “The firm’s recent combination with Waller and its commitment to growth in my primary practice areas are equally attractive, and I look forward to increasing that momentum in Chicago and across the nation.”

Mr. McCune received a J.D. degree from the University of Chicago Law School and an A.B. degree from Washington University.
