Jones Day Welcomes Antitrust & Competition partner Kaarli H. Eichhorn to Brussels Office

The global law firm Jones Day has announced that Kaarli H. Eichhorn has joined the Firm’s Antitrust & Competition Law Practice as a partner and will be based in its Brussels Office.

Mr. Eichhorn arrives at Jones Day from General Electric (“GE”), where he was Global Executive Counsel – Competition Law & Policy for ten years. He advised on a very significant number of high-profile, complex, multinational mergers and led GE teams that negotiated globally with government authorities on competition law and related matters, along with directing many of the company’s antitrust investigations, counselling, and compliance-related activities within all of its various business divisions which spanned media, financial services, digital, and industrial businesses.

“Kaarli’s broad experience at GE allowed him to become familiar with the complex competition issues facing multinational corporations, especially as they apply to proposed merger activity,” said Bernard Amory, co-leader of Jones Day’s Antitrust & Competition Law Practice and Partner-in-Charge of the Firm’s Brussels Office. “That experience will be of great benefit to Jones Day clients here in Brussels and throughout the region. He will be an outstanding addition, and I look forward to his contributions.”

“Adding a lawyer like Kaarli to our team in Brussels is indicative of the commitment Jones Day continues to make to our global clients facing regulatory challenges related to competitive practices,” said Craig Waldman, who co-leads the Firm’s Antitrust & Competition Law Practice. “He brings us outstanding experience from GE and in private practice, and will bring keen insights from years devoted to working with government regulators. We are very excited to have him join the Firm.”

Mr. Eichhorn’s experience also includes government relations and international strategic policy work, particularly as it applies to antitrust issues. He has been a long-standing Non-Governmental Advisor to the International Competition Network, and has worked closely on policy issues within the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, (“OECD”), with the EU Commission, the U.S. Federal Trade Commission, the U.S. Department of Justice, and other global competition authorities. He is a former chair for legal affairs in the American Chamber of Commerce to the EU and vice-chair of its competition committee. He has also held a leading role in the in-house legal profession as vice-chair of the In-House Competition Counsel Association.

A frequent speaker and writer on competition law, Mr. Eichhorn has been awarded the Global Counsel Award in the “Competition – Individual of the Year” category by the Association of Corporate Counsel and International Law Office.
