Former Office of Inspector General Senior Counsel Brian Bewley and Associate Counsel Kaitlyn Dunn Join Goodwin’s Healthcare Practice

Global law firm Goodwin announced today that partner Brian Bewley and associate Kaitlyn Dunn joined the firm’s Healthcare and Life Sciences practices, resident in the Washington, DC, and Boston offices, respectively. Having worked for the Office of Inspector General, Bewley and Dunn bring significant regulatory and government experience to Goodwin. They join from a regional law firm, where they teamed up in private practice after the OIG. Immediately prior to joining the firm, the pair practiced with Bass, Berry & Sims, PLC.

Bewley and Dunn advise a diverse group of healthcare and life sciences companies, both in the for-profit and not-for-profit spaces, on a wide range of regulatory and compliance issues. They also advise buyers and sellers, including private equity firms, on complex compliance and operational considerations in healthcare transactions. The duo brings a long track record of successfully defending healthcare and life sciences clients in False Claims Act, civil monetary penalty, exclusion, and other civil and criminal investigations, and audits conducted by the OIG and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

“The healthcare industry is experiencing a digital revolution that is leading to a rapidly changing regulatory landscape,” said Chris Wilson, co-chair of Goodwin’s Healthcare practice. “To help our clients take full advantage of this evolution and navigate the resulting regulatory considerations, we are thrilled to add Brian and Katie to our premier, full-service healthcare practice. Their extensive regulatory, transactional, and investigations experience, combined with their in-depth knowledge of OIG rulemaking and enforcement decisions, provides a significant edge to our clients investing and innovating in the healthcare, life sciences, and technology sectors. We are pleased that Brian and Katie chose to join Goodwin.”

“Goodwin’s strong history of and commitment to providing first-in-class, comprehensive counsel to companies operating in the ever-changing landscape of healthcare, life sciences, and emerging technologies, were key to our decision to join the firm,” said Bewley. “Katie and I are truly thrilled to be joining such a wonderful and collaborative team.”

At Goodwin, Bewley and Dunn join an industry-leading team of nearly 200 lawyers who cover all aspects of the global healthcare market. The team serves more than 600 clients — including healthcare service providers, digital health enterprises, life sciences companies, fund sponsors and their portfolio companies, and investors — on transactions, regulatory matters, government investigations, and litigation. In the past five years, the team completed more than 230 healthcare financings and more than 180 healthcare M&A deals globally. Mergermarket named Goodwin as the top advisor (by deal count) in its most recent North America Life Sciences and Healthcare M&A league tables. Earlier this month, the practice also welcomed partner Delphine O’Rourke.
