Cooley Expands Debt Finance Capabilities to Meet Private Equity Demand With New Partner in Boston

Dallas Cruz has joined Cooley as a partner in the firm’s debt finance practice based in Boston. She brings extensive experience counseling clients in a range of complex finance transactions, with a particular emphasis on representing private equity sponsors and their portfolio companies. Cruz joins Cooley from Choate Hall & Stewart, where she represented private equity sponsors, private and public company borrowers, and financial institutions in acquisition financings, asset-based credit facilities, fund financings and workouts across industries.

“Dallas’ depth of experience guiding clients through the full spectrum of debt finance transactions will be a significant asset to our private equity clients and further strengthen our ability to serve private equity funds and major companies – whether late-stage or public – through every stage of their development,” said Sonya Erickson, Cooley partner and global chair of the firm’s business department. “We are delighted to welcome Dallas to Cooley and to our growing team in Boston.”

“We’re thrilled to welcome Dallas to Cooley,” said Michael Tollini, Cooley partner and chair of the firm’s debt finance practice group. “Dallas brings outstanding experience at the intersection of private equity, M&A and debt finance in fast-moving industries, and will be a perfect complement to our platform and further strengthen our ability to provide comprehensive solutions to our private equity clients.”

“Cooley stands out for its transactional work with private and public companies at the forefront of innovation and growth,” said Cruz. “I’m looking forward to joining this exceptional team and the opportunity to partner with clients as they pursue their long-term growth strategies.”

Cruz is the latest addition to Cooley’s debt finance practice, following Adam Longenbach’s arrival to the New York office in June. She joins a growing group of new partners who have joined the Boston office in recent months, including Laura Stoffel (partner in the emerging companies and venture capital practice) and Lyndsey Kruzer (partner in the labor and employment practice), who both started at the firm in May.

Since 2020, the Cooley debt team has advised on more than 1,600 deals representing approximately $209 billion in aggregate proceeds. The team is consistently recognized by Chambers and The Legal 500 in both banking and finance and debt capital markets and is ranked by Prospect News as a top law firm advising issuers and underwriters on convertible notes offerings by number of transactions.
