Dentons Strengthens Competition and Antitrust Practice With New Partner Maren Tamke

Global law firm Dentons has expanded its well-regarded Competition and Antitrust practice with the recruitment of Dr. Maren Tamke as a partner in the Berlin office, effective June 2022. In her new role at Dentons, she will leverage her experience in the technology industry, including e-commerce and online platforms. Dr. Tamke joins Dentons from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer.

“We are extremely happy to continue to grow our successful Competition and Antitrust practice in Germany with Maren. She will significantly strengthen our ability to respond to the growing demand for top-tier legal advice, in particular in the tech area,” said Dr. René Grafunder, Co-Head Competition and Antitrust Germany.

Dr. Tamke brings more than 12 years’ experience in German and European competition and antitrust law. She advises clients worldwide on complex transactions, significant cartel and abuse proceedings, antitrust damages claims and compliance. She has deep knowledge of the technology sector, and is also experienced in consumer goods, life sciences, insurance, banking and media. She was recently named “National Leader 2022” in competition and antitrust law by Who’s Who Legal.

“The joining of Maren Tamke marks a significant milestone in our global strategy to grow our expertise in tech-related competition law; with Maren, we are clearly targeting the next level,” added Dr. Jörg Karenfort, Global Co-Head of Competition.

Maren Tamke comments on her move: “I am fascinated by Dentons’ global platform and the opportunities it presents for my advisory practice and client development.”

Andreas Ziegenhagen, Germany Managing Partner, comments: “With the hire of Maren Tamke, we are reinforcing the highly successful course of our Competition and Antitrust team and position ourselves even more strongly for the future. I am very pleased that our success is also resonating in the market, enabling us to attract top-tier talent.”

With the new hire, Dentons’ Competition and Antitrust group in Germany totals 23 lawyers, including seven partners. In January this year, counsel Johanna Redlefsen joined the Berlin team from Hengeler Mueller. On a global level, the Competition and Antitrust practice brings together the talent of more than 260 lawyers worldwide.
