Dentons expands Corporate practice in Berlin

Dentons is pleased to announce the expansion of its German team with Thomas Schubert, who will join its Corporate practice as partner in Berlin on October 1. He joins from Olswang, where he was partner.

Schubert’s practice centers on transactions in the technology sector and investments in new business models in the energy sector, with specific experience working with clients from Asia investing in Europe. Schubert began his career with Mayer Brown where he worked in the firm’s Berlin office. He is experienced in cross-border transactions and restructurings. Key clients he has advised include Solibro after following its acquisition by the Chinese Hanergy Holding Group; Tesco/dunnhumby on its acquisition of Berlin-based Sociomantic labs; and telecommunications group Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company on its investment in Rocket Internet.

Tomasz Dabrowski, CEO Dentons Europe, commented, “Germany is a key strategic market for the Firm, and a place we know our clients want us to grow our existing depth and experience. Welcoming partners of Thomas’ caliber is an important step in continuing to meet and exceed our client’s needs and expectations.”

Andreas Ziegenhagen, Managing Partner Germany: “I look forward to having such an experienced lawyer as a new colleague; his experience will be a perfect match for the future development of the German office—both personally and professionally.”

Schubert also looks forward to working with Dentons, noting, “Dentons offers an excellently positioned team with tremendous possibilities. The Firm’s global footprint helps to better fulfill the needs of my clients today and their goals for the future.”

Schubert is the eighth new partner to join Dentons in Germany this year. Partners Rainer Markfort, Arne Friel, Matthias Santelmann, Christoph Papenheim, Bernhard Gemmel, Wolfram Krohn and Peter Braun, all joined in 2015, many of them bringing with them key additional team members
